NORTHWEST CREDIT UNION REACHING OUT TO FEDERAL WORKERS

For federal employees, a dreaded a day in the government shutdown is upon them. Today is the first time in the shutdown that they won’t receive a paycheck. Lynn Heider with the Northwest Credit Union Association says credit unions can offer short-term, low-interest emergency loans as well as other options….

The shutdown has affected 98-hundred employees in Oregon. Nationwide, 380-thousand federal employees have been furloughed and aren’t working. Another 420-thousand essential personnel, such as airport security workers, are on the job without pay.
