The National Weather Service confirms a tornado touched down in St. Helens Tuesday afternoon. Firefighters say the tornado came down near McBride Elementary Schools just before 12:30 p.m. At least three homes in the area suffered some damage and several tree limbs were broken off, but no injuries were reported.

Health officials have confirmed another 771 COVID-19 cases. The latest numbers from the Oregon Health Authority show just over 51-thousand-900 total cases since the pandemic began. OHA also confirmed three more patient deaths, bringing the state’s death toll up to 737.

Oregon House Democrats could see a battle within their ranks for who will lead the caucus. State Representative Janelle Bynum of Happy Valley announced that she is lining up support to challenge current House Speaker Tina Kotek of Portland. House Democrats will meet next week to determine their nomination for House Speaker.
